Ingredients

Main Ingredient Group

125g Stork Baking Margarine
375ml water
250ml milk
1kg cake flour
5ml salt
1packet yeast
125ml sugar
2 eggs
5ml vanilla essence
1 Golden syrup
1 Desiccated coconut (optional)

Step by step method

  1. Place Stork Bake, water and milk in a sacepan and heat until margarine is melted. Set aside.
  2. Mix together flour, salt, sugar and yeast in a bowl.
  3. Beat the eggs with the vanilla essence.
  4. Make a well in the centre of the flour and add the milk and margarine mixture as well as the eggs and the vanilla mixture.
  5. Mix to form a soft dough.
  6. Allow to rise for 30 minutes then form into golf balls.
  7. Make a thin syrup with 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar, boil until sugar has dissolved.
  8. Fry the doughnuts in deep oil until cooked through and while hot, plunge into syrup.
  9. Serve as is or roll in desiccated coconut.
