Ingredients

Main Ingredient Group

2.5 cups cake flour
1tbsp cornflour
0.5cup castor sugar
190g Stork Baking Margarine, chilled
1 Milk or cream, if necessary
250g pitted dates, cut into 2 - 5 cm pieces
1 Milk for dipping rolls
1 Coconut for coating

Step by step method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Sift both types of flour together in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add the sugar and mix well.
  4. Grate the Stork Bake into flour and rub in to gather into a dough.
  5. If the dough is crumbly, add a few tablespoons of milk or cream.
  6. Break off walnut size pieces of the dough and roll into a disc.
  7. Place a piece of date and fold into finger size rolls.
  8. Dip in milk and roll in coconut.
  9. Place on a baking tray and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly coloured.
  10. Remove and cool before serving.
