Ingredients

Loaf Ingredients

185g Stork Baking Margarine
185g castor sugar
3 extra-large eggs
185g cake flour
1 tbsps cocoa powder
1 ½ tsp baking powder
2 tbsps water
Finely grated rind of 2 oranges

Brandy Syrup Ingredients

¾ cup sugar
1 tbsp Stork Baking Margarine
½ cup water
¼ cup brandy

Orange Sauce Ingredients (alternate to brandy syrup)

2 oranges
125g sugar

Step by step method

  1. Preheat oven to 180ºC.
  2. Cream Stork Bake margarine and castor sugar very well until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Add the orange rind and fold in the sifted dry ingredients alternately with the water.
  5. Bake in the oven for about 60 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
  6. Cool slightly.
  7. Cut slits across the top of the cake and drizzle the sauce over so that it soaks in.
  8. Boil the ingredients together for 5 minutes.
  9. Mix the juice of 2 oranges with 125g sugar.
