Ingredients
Main Ingredients
750ml self-raising flour
15ml baking powder
2ml salt
5ml ground cinnamon
5ml ground mixed spice
2ml ground cloves
2ml ground ginger
375ml castor sugar
375g Stork Baking Margarine, grated and softened
7 extra-large eggs
60ml milk
10ml vanilla essence
4 apples, cored and thinly sliced
Topping Ingredients
60ml light brown sugar
180ml cake flour
75g Stork Baking Margarine
50g macadamia nuts, coarsely chopped
Step by step method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease an oven roasting pan and line with baking paper. Grease again.
- Sift together the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients for the cake except the apple. Beat well until the batter is smooth (6 - 8 minutes).
- Turn the batter into the prepared tin and arrange the apple slices on top. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Mix the sugar and flour in a medium bowl.
- Rub in the Stork Bake with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add the nuts and set aside.
- Scatter the topping over the cake and bake for another 20 - 25 minutes until a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
- Cut the cake into squares and serve with whipped cream.
