Ingredients
Cake Ingredients
2cups flour
0.25tsp salt
2cups sugar
2 eggs
1tsp bicarbonate of soda (heaped)
0.5cup milk
1tbsp lemon juice
1cup water
250g Stork Baking Margarine
3tbsp cocoa (heaped)
1tbsp vanilla essence
Icing Ingredients
150g Stork Baking Margarine
2tbsp water
2cups icing sugar, sifted
1tsp vanilla
2tbsp cocoa
Step by step method
- Place flour, salt, sugar, eggs, bicarb, lemon juice and milk in a bowl and mix.
- Allow the mixture to stand for 5 minutes once mixed for the bicarb to start working.
- Heat the water, Stork Bake, cocoa and vanilla essence together in a saucepan.
- Stir this into the above mixture and pour into a deep baking tray of about 25 x 10 cm deep, or a 30 x 25 cm and 10cm deep pan.
- Bake at 180°C for 35 minutes.
- Cool, ice and cut into squares.
- Melt Stork Bake in a saucepan and add water.
- Add sifted icing sugar, vanilla and cocoa and stir.
