Ingredients
Main Ingredients
150g Stork Baking Margarine, softened
500ml flour
280ml castor sugar
15ml baking powder
1 Pinch of salt
3 large eggs
100ml milk
50ml water
5ml vanilla essence
200ml cocoa
Icing Ingredients
250g Stork Baking Margarine
125ml cocoa
400g icing sugar, sifted
45ml milk
Step by step method
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Grease and line two 20cm cake tins.
- Place Stork Bake in a bowl and sift in the dry ingredients. Mix the cocoa with 125ml hot water to make a paste.
- Add eggs, milk, water, vanilla essence and cocoa paste.
- Beat for 3 minutes by hand or 1½ minutes with an electric mixer at low speed.
- Spoon mixture into cake tins.
- Bake for 25 - 30 minutes until skewer comes out clean.
- Beat the Stork Bake until soft and as white as possible. Beat 125ml cocoa into the softened Stork Bake. Gradually beat in half the icing sugar and milk and then beat in the remaining icing sugar.
