½ a recipe of the Stork Beat ‘n Bake vanilla cake
750ml icing sugar
90ml cold water
Food colouring, optional

Step by step method

  1. Make ½ a batch of Stork Beat ‘n Bake vanilla cake, baked in a 22 x 34 cm lamington pan.
  2. When cool, cut into the size squares or rectangles that you would like.
  3. Loosely brush the crumbs off the sides of the squares or rectangles.
  4. Mix together the icing sugar and cold water until smooth and then colour if required.
  5. Place the squares or rectangles well apart from each other on a wire cake cooler over a baking tray.
  6. Place about 2 tablespoons of the glace icing into a small glass jug.
  7. Warm in the microwave until it is of a pourable consistency.
  8. Pour that over the cakes one at a time. Two spoons does one square.
  9. Leave to drip off, scrape the icing off the tray back into the jug, heat again and pour over square.
  10. Repeat until the cake is nicely covered, adding more icing from your main batch each time.
  11. Decorate as required.
