Napkin Chic: Folding Your Way to Festive Elegance
The holiday season is all about creating memorable moments, and the dining table is often the centerpiece of your celebrations. A beautifully folded napkin can elevate your table setting, adding a touch of sophistication and charm. Here are three easy-to-achieve folds that will impress your guests without taking hours to perfect.
1. The Classic Bow
Perfect for elegant dinners with a festive flair. The bow is simple yet timeless, adding a playful yet polished touch to your table.
How to Fold:
- Fold your napkin in half so it’s in the shape of a triangle.
- Fold the tip of the triangle down by about 3/4.
- Bring the bottom of the napkin up and fold it over the triangle fold about 1/3 up.
- And fold the napkin up and over again.
- Fold the right tip/end down.
- Fold the left tip/end straight across and over horizontally.
- Pinch the napkin folds on the right and thread a napkin ring up and over until it’s in the middle.
- Pull the ends down while holding the sides of the bow.
- Flip the napkin over and adjust to finesse the beautiful bow!
2. The Christmas Tree
Perfect for adding some fun and festive cheer to your table!
How to Fold:
- Start with a square napkin and fold it in half to create a rectangle.
- Fold it in half again to create a square.
- Smooth it out and spin it around so that all the outside corners are facing you (it should look like a diamond facing you.
- Fold the corners up one at a time to the top of the diamond – stagger each corner.
- Gently slide your hand under the napkin, sandwich it between your hands, and flip it over (it should now look like an upside down gem stone)
- One at a time, fold each upper outside corner over to the opposite side’s edge, so that the tops are parallel with you and you’ve formed a tidy downwards pointing triangle-ish shape.
- Flip the folded napkin over again.
- Starting at the top, fold each flap up under the one above it, hiding the pointed corner.
3. The Pocket Fold
Perfect for practical and sleek table settings. The pocket fold combines style and function, keeping your table neat while adding a touch of class.
How to Fold:
- Lay the napkin flat and fold the napkin in half – orient the open end toward you.
- Fold the napkin into quarters (it should look like a square).
- Orient the napkin so the open corner is facing away and to the left. Fold the top-most layer of napkin in half diagonally and press it down.
- Turn the napkin over so that the open corner is now facing away and to the right. Fold the right-side back about 1/3 of the way and press it down.
- Fold the left-side back also about 1/3 of the way and press
- Flip the napkin over and insert your silverware.
